Morning Meanderings…Sunday Salon

Good morning.  *YAWN!*  *STRETCH*

*sips coffee*

So, whats happening out there in the world of books and bloggers and beyond?  Yesterday morning I posted about my week with friends, so doing that again seems like repeat so just a brief recap:

Fargo

Book Sale

Police

Gifts

Hunger Games!!!

Chinese Food

Tired!

If you want to know more about that, you will have to read yesterdays post.  :D

As for current conditions… I am sitting in my quiet house this morning with no sound but the light tap on my keyboard and I am basking in it.  Soon, too soon, I will be getting ready for church, a meeting following, set up for IHN (serving the homeless this week), buying food for our IHN week, brief time home in afternoon to hopefully catch up with Jane Eyre, floor hockey play offs are four, orientation for new group with homeless tonight following, figure out supper and then Amazing Race.

Yup.  My week has started.

In books this past couple of weeks (I did not post last Sunday as I was out of town), here is what came in:

Out of this group that came in I ordered Memento Mori fro the Faith N Fiction discussion that will take place the end of this month with My Friend Amy.

I was sent two copies of Reunion so oh yeah…. Giveaway!

I am not sure what Breakout Kings is going to be like but I was sent this first season for review so I will check it out.

I am most excited for The Snow Child, and thank you for the win Lori at Escape With Dollycas Into A Good Book.

A couple of days ago I put up the library sale books and an offer for you to choose which one I will read and after I read it I will send it to that winner.  I am going to pick three winners out of this first group but today I am only picking one out of the three, I will pick the other two Tuesday morning.  I am choosing one today so I can add it to my books to read this week.

SO…. that winner is: (using random.org)

True Random Number Generator Min: Max: Result: 106 Powered by RANDOM.ORG
Yup, I am adding Ryan’s suggestion to read Brave New World to my reading group for next week and then I will mail it to him after I have read it.  I have never read it, so it should be an adventure in reading.  :D
It’s not too late for you to choose from the books, I will be choosing the other two winners Tuesday morning.
And finally, so I do not forget, last night I posted in Team Kickin It all the bike rides and adventures I hope to, plan to take place in this coming season.  If you have a minute, please pop over there and check it out… Team Kickin It is a fairly new project for me and I have not been loving on it like I should…. it needs encouragement.  :D

  1. I am enjoying the quiet this morning, too. I feel that I am very behind in my blogging, but I hope to get caught up next weekend during Bloggiesta.

    Here’s my
    Sunday Salon: Odds and Ends.
    Hope you will stop by!

  2. lol just reading your day’s plans has exhausted me lol. You truly are an inspiration with everything you do.

I hope you enjoy Calico Joe as much as I did.

    Have a great week!!

    • Well Cheryl you may have noticed I am not mentioning reading a lot of books… *sigh* :D I havent figured out that piece yet…..

I am excited about Calico Joe! I meant to mention that in my post and I forgot! :D

  3. Wow, and somewhere in there find time to blog and eat and maybe sleep!

I am glad you got the book. I hope you like it as much as I did and it will get Alaska off your Where Are You Reading Map!

    C-YA tomorrow!!

  4. Calico Joe sounds good to me…and I’ve read and loved other books by Allison Winn Scotch, so The Song Remains the Same is on my wish list.

    Enjoy your day!

    Here’s MY SUNDAY SALON POST

  5. Oh, I’ve definitely enjoyed following your week. ha!! Too much fun packed into a short amount of time.

Great book haul, too. NICE!!!! :-)

Thx for hoppin’ by my Saturday!!!!

  6. All of your new books look great!

  7. I’m being terribly lazy this morning. Slept until almost 9 a.m. I never ever sleep that late. Basketball (Elite 8) begins at 2 so I guess I’m not going to accomplish much today – not even reading.

  8. Just one question: what is IHN? :)

    • That is a great question! IHN is Interfaith Hospitality Network. It is a community of 13 churches that each take a week where they house and feed the homeless in our community. During the day the people are in classes learning job skills, working to get employment, and housing. From 4:30 pm to 8 am, they stay at the churches where we provide rooms to sleep in, beds, food and two of us stay over night each night as well in case there are any emergencies.

I am in charge of this for our churches week so I but the food, line up the volunteers for transportation, cooking meals, activities, and staying over night.

  9. All your books look good, I’m still waiting on my copy of Calico Joe. Hope you manage to get some rest during the week! Heading over to Team Kickin’ It now!

  10. Your week is already off to a running start! Today is a gardening day for me. I’m getting the yard ready for summer, so that means an audio book day. I listened to the first half of Divergent yesterday while working around the house. I need to know how it ends!

    • OOH gardening… I am nervous to start yet in Minnesota… we still could get snow, even though today is a gorgeous 70 degrees!

I bet Divergent is awesome on audio! I like doing that while cleaning too!

      • Oh goodness no, I’m not planting, I’m cleaning up. Chopping down last year’s wildflowers and grasses that I left up for the birds, dividing hosta, raking leaves, that stuff. We can get a hard freeze here until mid April and frost until mid May. Divergent is good in audio, very listenable.

  11. My week is starting off with rain, but quiet. I don’t mind as long as I have the quiet :) I’m just catching up on TV, books and blogging :)

    Have a great week!

  12. I’m being good and not even going to the library sales this year (so far, so good!) as I’m trying to clear off my shelves, as I’ve run out of room for my books! I keep telling DH that we need to buy a bigger house, complete with a library, but so far he’s resisting my wonderful suggestion. *L*

    Have a great week Sheila!

  13. I didn’t get to yesterday’s post yet – but seeing “police” on your agenda of things that happened last week definitely means I need to check it out next!
