Morning Meanderings…. Time To Get On The Fitness Track

Good Morning!  Happy Friday!

I am looking forward to this weekend because really…. I have no big plans.  :D  Saturday I have a baby shower but no bike rides, camping, cabin, travel… nada.

I like that a lot.

Last weekend I biked the Camp Benedict ride with my cousin’s wife.   She looks amazing and my cousin and her have been doing a program they found on-line called My Fitness Pal.  Between seeing how well it has worked for them (and uh…. seeing some pics of me these past few events) I jumped on the program earlier this week.

There are many things I like about it -

It is easy to use, I put in my height, weight, age and that was about it.

you enter your food into the daily journal and it calculates for you – LOVE THAT!

At the end of the day if you want it will run a report for you that is pretty cool – breaking down calories, fat, protein, fiber, carbs, and sodium.  I find it all a little fascinating :D

After the injury earlier this year I slowed down (yes, I know… some of you will say I didn’t… but I did…  ) and now it is time to kick back in gear.  I have been using My Fitness Pal since Monday and I will let you know each Friday how I am doing with the ticker that is below.

  1. Ooh, hope it continues working for you! :)

  2. You look pretty daggone fit to me!

  3. Awesome!! I do basically the same thing on Spark, but I don’t know how the programs compare. I do know My Fitness Pal is supposed to be amazing.

Did you hear I finally got on a bike when I was in Wisconsin! Now I can’t wait to get my bike fixed here and start riding again! Too hot for a few weeks, but after that, I’m crossing m y fingers!

    • I am enjoying it Amanda, I like the breakdown and the reports. It makes me want to work out and eat right :D

YAY about the bike! I wish we could have connected while you were “close”. Keep me in mind for next time! :D

  4. I’m sure Chicken Little is running up and down your street yelling that the world is coming to an end. You have no big plans for this weekend? Will wonders never cease. Hope you have a beautiful weekend.

  5. Sheila, it’s hard to imagine you needing this, but whatever makes you feel good!

I signed up for Spark people, and even though I don’t go to the site very often, I follow the program of recording food and getting in my exercise…three times per week at the gym, plus walking, etc.

So far, I’ve lost 12 lbs., which isn’t much, but I feel a lot better.

  6. I started using DailyMile a few weeks ago to track my workouts and I love the graphs and the fact that you can encourage other friends who are also using it to track running, walking, biking etc. Plus it works out the calories burned for you and lists how much you;ve lost so far. I’m going to have to check this one out too!

    • That is awesome Jill – I did start Spark with Amanda but I don’t know if the timing wasn’t right or what… I did not connect much with it… for some reason – My Fitness Pal made seams to be working :D

  7. I started MFP a few months ago but I wasn’t able to stick to it. Haha something about writing down what I eat totally threw me off. I know, I’m pathetic. But I may need to jump in and join with you! You are always so inspirational Sheila! :)

    • I actually signed up in February Reagan… and never went back to it. After this past weekend seeing how awesome my cousinette looked….. I was back on that baby

I hope you do this with me – that would be fun!!!

  8. Red Headed Book Child

    Good luck!

  9. I so need to get back to work!! I’ve been eating mindlessly for the entire summer….school can’t start fast enough for me! Good luck with your fitness schedule!

  10. Good luck an injury really slows you down, my knee was damaged last year and I finally am back to almost full strength of course then I hurt the nerve in my arm so that is a bit slower to get healed. Going anyway, just slower then I would like.

    • I had no idea Lisa how much this would affect me – and life. At the grocery if someone hands me the change into my left hand – I drop it because I have my grip.

Occasionally for no reason – it will ache. I hear you fully on the slower than I would like part. :)

  11. Thanks for the link to My Fitness Pal, I signed up and this is my 2nd day using it. We’ll see how it goes…. I’m Leeswammes there, too, in case you want to link up.

    • Oh yes – definitely! Today is one week for me and the only day I did not track was Saturday when I had a baby shower to attend that was an Around The World theme and the food was… too good to pass up, and I went out to dinner with my hubby that night.

  12. Oh well, it’s good to be relaxed about your diet… but not too relaxed, of course!

Let me know your member name and I’ll look you up – and tut-tut where needed. :-)
