Blogiversary – year 2 and I want to party with you!!!

Oh I am just giddy with excitement!!!  Today officially marks my two-year anniversary of my step into the book blogging world.  Whoever thought that this day would come?  I sure didn’t!  When I first discovered book blogging I would never have dreamed what a life changing experience it would be… I did not know that by chatting books I would:

  • start having conversations with authors

  • be part of a Minnesota book event panel

  • Go to New York – not once, but twice for BEA

  • meet many awesome book bloggers throughout this wonderful and crazy hobby

  • and of course, get to chat with all of you

Life is really not as it was before I book blogged.  :D

This party is to really celebrate you, because honestly…. if I was talking to myself every day…. I know I would not do this blog, at least not to the extent and to the love that I do now.  SO please, come on in!

You may drop your coat at the coat check (be sure to get a claim number), and help yourself to the beverages and snacks.  Excuse me a minute while I get the music going…

*runs into other room*

*runs back*

There.  Nothing like a little cheesy 80′s background music.

At this party – the gifts are for you!  It’s easy to participate – simply leave a comment on this post about how you arrived at the party (have fun with this) and what virtual gift or food item you brought with you, such as you rode your scooter and brought flaming shish kabobs.  (I did this last year and the sheer imaginative comments had me laughing for days after…. :D)

This giveaway is open for today only – tomorrow morning I will announce the winners using random.org on my Morning Meandering post.  If you have a preference (package 1,2,3, or 4) you can say that in your comment and if your name is drawn that will be yours if not already won by someone else – otherwise no need to say which as you will be eligible for all.

Ok… let’s get to the good stuff:

An advanced reader copy of Forever by Maggie Stiefvater, Between by Monica Warman, Camerons Coffee (Caramel Brownie), Ghiradelli Chocolate, and a Mysterious Benedict Society puzzle

Nazareth Child by Darrell James, Ghiradelli Chocolate, Cameron’s French Vanilla coffee, The Soldiers Wife by Margaret Leroy, and Crooked Letter Crooked Letter by Tom Franklin.

The Art Of Choosing (AUDIO!), Dark Legacy and Secret Legacy by Anna DeStefano, Lethal by Sandra Brown, Lindt Truffles, Cameron’s Cinnamon Sugar Cookie coffee

The Little Women Letters by Gabrielle Donnelly, The Taker by Alma Katsu, The Sandalwood tree by Elle Newmark, Ghiradelli Chocolate, and Java delight Hazelnut Creme Coffee

*Personal thank you to publishers who gave me copies of these books to give away for this event.

Thank you readers of Book Journey -  You make me smile with your comments, nod in understanding, and occasionally I laugh out loud.  I am so appreciative of all of you!!!

Let’s get this party started!!!!  I am opening the door….

  1. Yikes, I am here early while riding on my unicorn carrying a case of butterbeer! Anyway, HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY! So very fun, and I’m so happy to have met and hung out with you at some of those crazy book events :)

  2. I rode over on my sick bed (I’ll try not to get everyone sick while I’m here). I’ll bring the orange juice and soup. Yes, I’m the fun one. I like pkg 3! Woo Audio!!

  3. Mary Preston

HAPPY 2ND Blogiversary!!!!!! I arrived here via my gallant steed ( my dragon is at the vets) & see I’m the first here. Usually if that happens I help the host/hostess set up for the party, but you look all rip roaring ready to go. I think I might just start in on the drinks. Champagne it is!! Cheers!!!

    • HI Mary! So sorry to hear about your dragon but the steed is quite impressive! :D I have been cleaning and prepping for days…. all the cobwebs on the blog are gone and I even replaced that pesky chair with the broken leg… you know the one… it dumped over April last year….

      Cheers!

    • I love champagne, have you ever had a Bellini Mary, ‘cheers’

  4. Hey Sheila, there’s no need to enter me. I just flew in on my broom to wish you a happy blogiversary. I’m glad you joined the book blogging world and I’m even more glad I’ve gotten to know you! Congratulations!!

  5. Congratulations and Happy Blogiversary, Sheila! Great giveaways and I’d love to win #4 (pick me, randomdotorg!!!).
Here’s *clinks glasses with Sheila* to a great year 3!!

  6. Oh, do you mind if I pass the appetizers to James (he’s parking the Bentley)?

  7. Hm, didn’t I say that I wouldn’t be entering any giveaways?? I think I remember saying that…but here I am banishing that idea, because you’ve included JESSICA WARMAN!! So yeah my preference is definitely package #1, and as San Antonio is a little far away from your neck of the woods to take a skooter, I think a hot air balloon is a good way to go. I will be bring pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate and decorated to look like Harry Potter wands. :D

    • I though of you Amanda when I set that picture up. Glad you are entering. OOH and pretzel wands???? You are so AWESOME!!!!

Oh and we will not tell James that the hot air balloon landed on the Bentley ;)

  8. Heather Kinard

Happy Blogiversary Sheila!! I have loved following your blog! It is the first thing I check every morning! I skipped all the way here with my M&Ms that are a must for every book party! I would love to win #4…… but they all look terrific! Thanks for sharing you love of books with us!

  9. I have always wanted to have a party with a balloon artist and a charactature artist. Everyone could get an awesome mardi gras hat or funky animal and a cartoon character picture drawn of themselves.. So I would bring the balloon guy and cartoon gal!
Congrats on exceeding your goal with book blogging. Its changed my life too. HOpefully I can get a better handle on this and find more time, I have enjoyed book bloggingfar more than I have imagined.

    • Wow Jennifer – you bring a lot to the party! *making a note – Jenifer is a must to have on the invite list EVERY year!* :D

Love the balloon and caricature artists! I am setting them up in opposite corners for the guest to get in line :D

  10. OOPS My first choice prize pack is 1, then 3, 4 and 2

  11. Sheila, your morning blog is a highlight for me. Happy, happy blogversary! I can’t believe you have only been doing this for 2 years. Your energy continues to astound me. I especially love your commitment to the children of Honduras. Such an inspiration. My church is very involved with an orphanage in Peru. It is truly a blessing to see and hear about those precious children.

OK, so, I’m here with my coffee in hand (Starbucks Komodo Dragon, a hearty brew and I’ll share) and I’ve brought an Austin area favorite – Round Rock Donuts. This is a seriously tasty donut and I know we don’t eat those very often, but this is a party. You can actually find out about them here: http://www.roundrockdonuts.com/

Thanks for your generous giveaways and I’d be honored to receive any of them! Hugs!!

    • Hi Kay!!! MMMMM….. *accepts Starbucks Komodo Dragon coffee and takes a big sip*

      Excellent!
And donuts too? You rock! :D

Thank yo for the comments too…. I do love Honduras and love that you have connections through your church with Peru!

  12. Congratulations for accomplishing all that you set out to do and making all our mornings so much brighter. I always look forward to reading your book reviews and all your adventures.

I looked at the packages and there were two that I would be tickled pick to receive:
    either #2 or #4,

Always same the same as you are.

    CarolNWong(at)aol(dot)com

  13. Hello there! I am happy the rainbow dropped me off right at your doorstep, because trying to carry this tray of cupcakes for blocks would be tiring! I like cupcakes as they are a one-handed treat, so I can still have a book in the other.

    Happy Blog-versary!

  14. Hey! I was here so early, the house was dark! So I left and found a coffee shop, but now I’m back. I brought PIE, of course. Can’t really recall HOW I got here, though. Magic.

    • “Doh!* Glad you came back…. I fell asleep hanging up streamers last night and woke up late covered in confetti….. such a weird way to wake up but so glad you are back! It could not be a party without my roomy Care! :D

      Mmmmmmm….. PIE!

  15. Happy blogiversary and of course many more to come.
I really enjoy my morning coffee with you. I would love to win package #2.
I will be arriving on my scooter, gas is far toooo expensive, may take a while I live in Canada.
I will bring, what else, coffee, I love my coffee. Spinach dip, my homemade perogies, yum and beer battered fish.

    • Nice job with the scooter…. hopefully there is more downhill than up hill :D Either way quite impressive while carrying coffee, spinach dip, and the perogies… oh and battered beer fish too? AND the coffee is still warm!

You are literally meal of wheels

      Come on in Marjorie!

  16. First off, congratulations and happy blogiversary! I’m from Washington DC and the Obamas are our neighbors, of course. Just the other day, I was over having lunch with Michelle in the Rose Garden and President Obama stopped by to say hello. I explained to President Obama how much I really wanted to come to your blogiversary and he said I shouldn’t drive but that I could take one of the Marine Ones out. How cool is that? Bo, the Obama’s dog, really wanted to come to so Bo and I are both coming to your party on Marine One (I hope you have I helicopter pad near by).

As for food, I’m bringing a rare DC delicacy called a Salty Oat cookie. They’re basically chocolate oatmeal cookies with raisins and a complimentary amount of salt. I’m also bringing balloons because you can’t have a party without lots of balloons!!!

    abookishaffair(at)gmail(dot)com

    • Oh Bo is so cute! Feel free just to land on the house. Its a gorgeous view from up there. :D

Mmmmm the salty oak cookie sounds wonderful! And thank you for the balloons – you can never have too many balloons! :D

  17. Happy Blogiversary. Nice to have met you in the blog world and hoping to meet you in person soon.

    My first choice is #2.
    booksnobsblog at gmail dot com

    • Hi Laura – thanks for coming! *hugs*

It gets a little crazy around here for the blogiversary. Hope you can stay and mingle… be sure to try the harry Potter pretzel wands :D

  18. Woo-hoo, time to PARTY!! I came all dressed up in my flower child clothes from ‘way back in the day, and I’m carrying bouquets of flowers for you, Sheila, to honor this occasion. I also brought copies of the books I wrote….my own little package for you.

I love Package #3, and I hope you have a wonderfully fun day today!!

  19. Oh how much fun! Happy Anniversary! Reading your blog has become a ritual for me and a great break from the typical morning stresses that are present when you have young children.

It’s a cloudy but beautiful day here in MI so I am hopping into my hot air ballon and taking a scenic route to get over there. In my cooler I have packed a party essential Triple Chocolate Cheesecake with each piece perfectly topped with a fresh, juicy strawberry. No party like this is complete without music so I will make sure I pack my old school boom box which will be blasting some Cyndi Lauper upon my arrival. On a day like this I think “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” is a great way to kick things off.

Got to get packing! Hope you have a great day! I am dancing my way back to my coffeepot now. Cheers!

    • Cloudy here too but thanks to BooksNyarn arriving on a rainbow, that covers the clouds :D

Oh and another hot air balloon – sweet!!!! Park it next to Amanda’s. We will have to have balloon rides later :D

Oh and cheesecake!!!! And Cyndi Lauper – you know me sooooo well :D

  20. Party? Did someone mention a party? I’m so itching to dance the night away! I don’t remember the last time I did that. (I haven’t been invited to enough Italian weddings this year.)

So let me begin by fixing my wind-blown hair. That helicopter ride was a blast! But I did have to fight the pilot from stealing the tiramisu I made last night just for you. Anyhow, there’s still lots left. Don’t worry, he didn’t lick the bowl, only his fingers. He wanted to lick mine too but after glaring at–Hey, you got 80s music playing! My fave….

Now where was I…Oh yes, congratulations on two years of blogging! I would be very happy if package #2 appeared in my mailbox. Oh! look who just arrived! Excuse me while I mingle?

    laura at laurafabiani dot com

    • Hi Laura!!! Come on in…. I had all the furniture in the dining room removed yesterday to create a dance area. Go wild :D

And tiramisu….. invite the pilot in but he cant have it all…LOL

Yes…80′s music… really is there any other kind? Thanks for coming – I hope you do dance all night and tomorrow morning I can post that Laura Fabiani is still here dancing :D

  21. Oooh, the water is cold for a swim over to this blogoversary party! Should have done this two days ago, when it was 50 degrees (yes, 50 degrees) warmer. I will catch some sushi on the way…

Congrats Sheila! Proud to be a member of the Bookies!

  22. I’m here! My pegasus was being a little uncooperative and wanted to eat all the warm salted pralines I’m bringing! I had them draped over him in this satchel and he was trying to turn his head to get in there! Tricky fella, but I love him!

Would love packages 1 & 4, but open to all!
Congrats on your blogiversary, and thanks for the party invite!!

    TweetyB99 at aol dot com

  23. Beth Hoffman

    HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY, HONEY!

  24. Yeah! Sheila, congratulations on 2 years of blogging! Wooh hooh! AND thanks for the amazing giveaway – I would be thrilled to win any of these prize packs but #4 really catches my attention!!

  25. What? I can’t park my hot air balloon with all these others in the way, so I’m going up higher and puttin’ on my parachutte. WHATCH OUT BELOW!!! oh no….I dropped my chocolate chip cookies (homemade of course, nice and warm straight from the oven), but it looks okay from up here….it’s raining cookies and your guests are loving it! I’l be right down…….coming in fast…… HI THERE!

(ps….love all the packages! and like so many others, I love your blog first thing in the morning with my own cup of coffee. You truely amaze me with your energy. Have a great great day…and Happy Blogaversary!!)

  26. I came to this great blog and great party when I first became a blogger of books. I love reading each and every post daily via email or by Book Journey’s blog itself. All the packages here look so tempting it’s hard to choose just one. I would have to pick # 4. Keep up this awesome blog and PARTY PARTY PARTY!!

  27. Happy Second Anniversary!!! You do a wonderful job on your blog. I found you a little while ago and enjoy popping over to see what you are reading. All the packages look wonderful too.
I would arrive at your party in a 1963 Austin Healy Sprite convertible and the sun would shine all the way from Colorado to your place. To eat I would have to bring Nutella Pockets, still warm.

  28. Sheila congrats champagne &caviar to you.Any gift would be wondreful!!lomazowr@gmail.com

  29. HI Shiela…Happy, Happy Blogoversary! Wow, I can just feel your enthusiasm!
I came over in my Toyota (boring, huh?!). Brought some chips and dip.
Packages 2 and 4 look great, but I would be so happy with any of them!!
Keep up the good work, and I look forward to your next anniversary (and of course all your fun posts until then)..

  30. congratulations on your Blogoversary! I do love visiting your blog every morning and seeing what fun stuff you are up to each day. I prefer package 1 if it makes a difference. Thank you

  31. Congratulations on your 2nd year!!! And many more. Since you are having an 80s theme, I’m a little late because I had to look for and dig out my high platform shoes and get my hair really “big”. Where shall I put the pizza? Can’t see that well with the dimmed lights and the disco ball spinning!!!!!
Looking forward to many more years of reading your blog. Congrats Sheila!!!

    • Lovin’ the shoes Cheryl! And love the hair too…. ooh put the pizza over on the table next to the punch bowl and that humongous ice sculpture that I am really rethinking as it is melting on to my floor….

  32. oops..concentrating on walking in these shoes forgot to tell you, just in case I am the lucky one…package 4 please.

  33. Happy 2nd Blogoversary, Sheila! I love reading your blog. I always find great recommendations here.

I hope you like this molten chocolate cake and the Edy’s Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookie ice cream that I’ve brought to go with it. It was quite a trek balancing that while riding on my unicycle but I made it here in one piece and the cake is unscathed!

While all the gifts look scrumptious, I am particularly drawn to number 1. Now, where can I get that delicious butterbeer I’ve heard so much about?

    • Christina – YUM! I may need to borrow your bike after I eat the cake and ice cream to work off the calories :D

Butter beer is over to the far left of the table… Care seems to be hovering over it. Hmmm….. LOL

  34. i think you were the first blogger i found (never knew bloggers existed) and have found others through you!
definitly would wear my black mules even though they hurt my feet because it makes my legs look leaner and they need all the help they can get!
i have a strappy halter top with black chinos that also help with the lean look..
food would be chocolate chip cookies and brownies and lots of diet coke!
i like all the packages but 1 and 2 are my favorites

  35. Happy Blogoversary!

I got myself a set of fairy wings from Wings & Things in Gloss Angeles and will be making my maiden flight to the party with a trifle. Hope I don’t crash.

This idea was inspired by my 2nd viewing of BARBIE: A FAIRY SECRET with my 6 yr-old. I’m not sure how many more viewings i’ll be in for before it goes back to the library.

Honestly, I was hesitant to have her exposed to anything Barbie-related due to the unrealistic body types depicted. But, I must admit that the life lessons are valuable.

Thanks for the great giveaway. All the packages look great. I enjoy your blog posts every morning.

    • So jealous of the fairy wings! can you connect me with the website you bought them from? :D

Got to love barbie, and doesn’t she look great for her age… what is she 60 now?

  36. What a great blog – I get excited every morning to read your meandering and find out what you are up to for the day. Your days at the gym encourage me to take myself to mine each day!

Due to the heatwave on the east coast, I am arriving at your party in a cute summer dress with two batches of Beergaritas in hand for those in need of a drink! Happy Bloggiversary!

    • Thank you Kristen…. I need to get better at posting my gym and work out adventures again…. I plan to do that soon :D

I don’t think I have ever heard of a Beergarita, but thank you… they look awesome!

  37. Woohoo!!! My gosh Sheila, it is hard to believe that your blog has only been around for 2 years! You have done so much and in my mind you seem like an blogging mainstay; an “expert” so-to-speak.

Thanks for inviting me to this party via GoodReads, but I actually got my tush over here today thanks to my fabulous email. I have found that email subscriptions works beyond fantastic for me with those blogs whose posts that I do not want to miss at all. By the way, I think I first met you via JKaye.

I have nothing fancy in hand besides a beyond amazing in season fruit salad which honestly, if you attended parties with me in person then you would know that a fruit salad is an party food effort. I am one of those who freezes up when bringing a dish.

Oh…I have a gift in hand….one is bike related (ssh…I don’t really have it because I still need to investigate what part, book, gadget, clothing, etc that you want/desire/need but don’t have…can you tell me? once you reveal, then consider your mind wiped free of this questions; as if was never asked). Another gift would be a giftcard to your local bookstore; nothing beats a giftcard because part of the thrill of books is the actual browsing for the one you want AND then that purchase. :D :D :D

By the way, love the song! Fantastic!

    • Ahhh…. J Kaye….. I really miss her. She was such an inspiration to me. She always commented back to those who commented on her blog and I think she inspired me to do the same…. :D

      I love the “conversations”.

I love fruit salad and it looks delicious! I would love a new virtual bike bag…. mine fits awkward on the back of my bike… I actually bungee cord it to my bike which is uber tacky… but oh well :D

  38. “Congratulations!”, she says, poking her head nervously around the door. “It looks like I found the party…”

She’d received the invitation the day before via Goodreads, and peered into the room, hoping desperately that she’d know someone. An introvert, parties were difficult, but the logistics of this one made it easy to wander in and explore.

“Here’s some warm dip” she said, proffering a foil-covered ceramic bowl and a basket of Triscuits. “My husband calls it cholesterol-on-a-cracker”, noting that it was made from equal parts chopped Vidalia onions, mayonnaise, and shredded cheese, and then heated in a moderate oven. “But it’s party time, so we put those worries behind us for a day.”

Wandering over to the gift table, she put her initials next to package three, thinking that she’d been wanting to read The Art of Choosing for ages, and the audio version was a bonus.

“Thanks again for inviting me. I”m looking forward to meeting lots of new people.”

    • Janet! Welcome :D Thank you for the dip… love what your husband calls it! It sounds delicious. No worries about being an introvert… i tend to be the same way and as book lovers head on over to the vast walls of book shelves and find yourself a book or a book topic is always a great opener with this crowd. :D

  39. Happy Blogiversary! Congrats on two years of blogging :)
I arrived on a parachute, carrying cartons of chocolate with me.
I would love either package 2 or 4.
Oh and please consider me for the giveaway only if it’s International.

    Thanks!

    • I love the parachute entrance. I especially enjoyed how you managed to land perfectly between the two hot air balloons and Margie’s Toyota! Chocolate is always always welcome :D

  40. Happy Blogiversary. 2 years, where does the time go?

Package #4 looks good to be.

‘grabbing some chocolate milk, since I biked over and that this is the perfect recovery drink’

    Cheers!

  41. Congratulations, Sheila! I feel slightly intruderish because I just stumbled upon your blog THIS WEEK – thanks to audiobook week! So I sneakily walk to the party in my Converse Chuck Taylors, bearing warm rhubarb muffins and a bag of Fun-Size Snickers bars, but since I’m not shy I soon feel as though I’ve known you for TWO YEARS!
Again, congratulations, and I’m looking forward to many more years of reading your blog!
    Danette

    • Danette, It is an open house, come on in! :D

And rhubarb muffins???? WARM? You are like an old friend already! :D I will split a fun size Snicker bar with you… have to save room for whatever is next!

  42. Hi Sheila! I’m going to have to agree with a lot of the others – your morning blog is a highlight of my morning. I read every morning with a bowl of cereal. Congratulations on your anniversary!

I arrived today on a pogo stick. Since cereal would certainly splash out of its bowl with every bounce, I opted instead for an angel food cake, which has now completely fallen. Oh well, it looks like everyone else brought enough food already! If you’d like to have a bounce on my pogo stick, feel free!

I love packages 2 and 4! Thanks so much for the wonderful packages!

  43. Sheila, Happy Second! you are one of the best book bloggers. No need to put me in the hat for drawing. just wanted to say hi. I did ride on my Carolina Blue Vespa, just to see you. xox B

  44. Happy Blogoversary, Sheila! :) I can’t believe you have only been doing this for 2 years!

If I am lucky enough to win I would love package 2 please.

  45. I found your blog about 6 months ago and have looked forward to new postings from you every day. I’ve ‘found’ many good reads through you! THANK YOU!

  46. It’s a party, It’s a party!!!!

Happy Blogversary. You have come a long way in the past two years-it has been fun knowing you. I would take all the chocolate-you know me and my love of chocolate.

Actually package 2 or 3-have you read The Soldier’s Wife. You should read it =it is great.

    • Hi Esme! Look at you… packing up the chocolate and hiding it in your over sized book bag…. uh huh… I am on to you….

Ahhh… I dont care – just glad you came to celebrate with me!

  47. Happy Blogiversary! Two years … pretty exciting!

  48. Happy blogoversary! I would love #2!

  49. Congrats, Sheila! Two years is a long time in blogging land. I do well remember last year’s party. How time flies!

I am a little bit late and exhausted as I came by pedalo (a water bicyle) as I’m from the Netherlands, where we have a lot of that stuff (water). I got you these lovely pancakes. Eat up now, they’re still a little warm!

  50. Happy Blogiversary. What a great day to celebrate. Many more years I would enjoy Package #4. Many thanks.

  51. Happy blogiversary, Sheila!

Love the commenting idea. I figured Santa wasn’t using his sleigh this time of year and that if he can go around the world in one night on it it should take a very short time to get to the party. I’ve brought pineapple and cheese on sticks for famous party food.

  52. Happy Blogiversary. Have a wonderful day. Package #2 would be my choice. Thanks.

  53. HAPPY 2ND BLOGIVERSARY!! It seems like you were just having your first blogiversary party! I came by riding my grandson’s tricycle! My neighbors couldn’t believe their eyes as I drove by! lol Of course, I had to bring my grandson’s favorite chocolate chip cookies. My first choice would be package two and my second choice would be package four. Here’s to many more mornings with Sheila!

  54. I sang along with Celebration! I LOVE that song!

Happy Blogoversary darling! Here’s to many more!

  55. Thanks for giving me an excuse to party early! I am here with my
Mike’s Hard Lemonade and it tastes so refreshing; especially,
when it is almost 100* outside and the humidity is awful…
Happy Blogoversary to you and I hope you have many more
celebrations! I am especially drawn to Prize Package #2, but
would be a happy camper with any of the delightful giveaways!
    Many thanks to you! Cindi

  56. I came to the party via my trusty blue Electra Townie bicycle and brought my special strawberry cupcakes and some 7-layer dip. I always need a balance of salty and sweet! Happy Blogiversary! I only recently discovered your blog, and I enjoy seeing it pop up in my google reader!

All of the packages look awesome so I’d be happy with any, but especially 1 or 2. :P Have a great day!

  57. HAPPY 2ND Blogiversary Sheila!!!!!! Thanks for the great giveaway.Have a great day.

  58. Happy Blogiversary! Great party you are hosting today.

With all the rain and flooding I had to drive over in my amphibious car. The plane is grounded until the lightening stops and I didn’t want to miss one minute of the party. I brought you some of my favorite Kenya AA coffee beans and a box of Ghirardelli Turtle Brownies. Enjoy!

  59. YAY! Happy TWO YEARS Sheila! PARTAAAAY! Looks like the party is in full swing. I had work items to handle before I could jump over. Since I have to come in from Florida to MN I arranged a teletransport today that helped me bypass the weather issues. (Thanks for the ‘beam up’ Mr. Scott.)
I don’t cook but I always rope/cajole/sweet talk my DH into making something special for events where I want to offer a treat. So today I am bringing a tray full of his scrumptious raspberry mini scones with butter-cream icing. Pass ‘em around and enjoy! Now let me get mingling and see what other treats are available since it is close to my lunch time.
Have a great day and Many Happy Returns!

    • Very cool Martha… where I can get myself one of them beam me thingies? ;)

Thank you to DH for his raspberry mini scones with the yummy icing! Does he cater? I may require that next year…. :D

  60. Happy Blogiversary Garden Friend! I’ve been an email subscriber for some time now & just have to tell ya that I’m loving your posts!
I arrived in my personal helicopter just like the Donald does & I brought you a few bottles of Sangria & homemade cookies shaped like books!
I would love #4 if I got the chance! Thanks!

  61. Happy Blogiversary :D :D :D I love reading your blog much! I keep coming away with lots of fab recomendations!

  62. Happy Blogiversary! Gosh I remember the party last year! Okay, this year I arrived by jogging all the way from Arizona, so I could afford to eat all the great items at your party! And I brought with me a big tub of raw cookie dough – not to cook, to eat as is!!! (oh, without raw egg product, I should add)

I’d take package #3 if I won. And of course, I’ll be happy to take home any cookie dough if there is any left, which I doubt!!!

    • Jogging Jill? very impressive! Yes, eat up and gain back your energy! IOf you need a ride home I bet one of the lovely guests could take you by helicopter, teleport or scooter! :D
MM to the cookie dough too…. nice touch!

  63. Happy Anniversary!!! Thank you for the invitation! I arrive in style, dressed in Victorian historic best, having arrived in my horse drawn carriage, which, incidentally, is drawn by four of the most magnificent black stallions! Woot! I bring with me my most decadent dessert, which my boss calls Shirley’s Heavenly Delight. Picture this: chocolate cake with sweetened condensed milk, chocolate sundae topping, butterscotch sundae topping and whipped cream on top. Sprinkled liberally on top of all this are tiny morsels of Skor bars. Are you drooling yet? One of my friends calls it the perfect PMS cake! Wait ’til you try it!! ;) Yum!! Package #4 sounds divine!

  64. Happy Blogiversary!!! That is so amazing. Congrats. I love your morning meanderings. They are really interesting to read.

I like package 4 the most, but honestly, they all look great.

    Again, congrats on the Blogiversary!

  65. Happy Blogiversary, Sheila! The It’s Monday! meme is what got me started here.

I’m bringing freshly picked and washed baby greens from my garden for our party, in a basket, walking along a path in the woods wearing my red hooded cape. Oh, I may be a bit late. This gentleman with big teeth stopped me for a chat.

    • Hi Joy! Thanks for the baby greens… delicious! I love vegies! And your cape… I seen you coming a mile away.

No idea who the big toothed guy is… he has not introduced himself…. hit him with the basket – but try not to lose the baby greens!

  66. Celebration………………………. we are going to celebrate and have a good time, what’s your pleasure…. BOOKS :-) lol great song.

No need to hang up my coat, high heels with music, i’ll be dancing all day.

Congrats on 2 years Sheila – Let’s celebrate, ohhhhh ohhhhhhhh

Can you hear me singing, lol

    I would love Package 3 or 4.

    Lindt chocolate is DIVINE :-)

I’ll buy everyone a drink, ‘cheers’ I did bring some ‘Dark n Stormy’s from bermuda’ Rum and Gingerbeer, yummy

  67. Every year this trip just gets more and more complicated for me. I was at the North Pole, visiting Santa Claus when I realized that if I didn’t get down here soon I was going to be late. Unfortuantely, Santa’s reindeer were still resting from last December, but he did have a wonderful old sled that I used. It was pulled by 4 polar bears, but they could only go as far south as the snows did.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do after that. Luckily I found a very large and friendly turtle sunning it’s self on the coast of Hudson Bay. He was kind enough to get me across the bay and told me the name of a rather large logger who was visiting Canada from MN.

Now I have heard of Paul Bunyan before but meeting him in peson was rather extraordinary. He told me that he was going to visit an amusement park in your back yard so he picked me up, put me on the back of Babe the blue ox, and here I am.

Everyone I met on the way wanted me to bring you stuff, so if you don’t mind I’ll just put it over on that table, Santa wanted me to give you this magic book that I’m rather jealous over. All you have to do is touch the cover and think of any book you want to read. It can be any book every printed, so I hope you enjoy it.

The lovely turtle, who’s name was Beauregard, sent along these lovely chocalate truffles in the shape of turtle eggs. The dark brown ones are filled with orange creme and the light brown are caramel.

Paul and Babe sent a long life long passes to Paul Bunyan Land and some rather gorgeous bouquets of lady slippers.

As for my gift, I brought lots of food. Kansas City barbeque brisket and ribs, coleslaw, red potato salad, roasted corn on the cob, and corn bread. I also brought you a wonderful first edition, signed copy of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Happy Blogoversary and I look forward to being here for many more! And any of the prize packages would be lovely.

    fforgnayr@yahoo.com

    • Ryan…. wow…. you amaze me! I am sitting here reading your comment and my smile is getting bigger and bigger… you should write books! Really! :D Thank you to you, Paul, Babe, Santa, Beauregard. i shall treasures the gifts forever and wow what a spread you brought and books too! *beaming*

      Thanks Ryan!

  68. Hello Sheila! Happy blogoversary! Congratulations! I’m so glad your blog exists.

I, of COURSE, came to your party via bicycle – my 3-speed AMF Nimble with internal shifting, classic 3-speed bars, and fenders and chainguard painted to match should be perfect for this event. And I brought you a couple 6-packs of St. Arnold’s Elissa IPA, a local Houston brew.

I would love to win package #4 but really I’m just glad to be here to celebrate with you.

  69. Happy Blogoversary!! I’ve loved reading your blog over the last year, and am so glad I got to meet you in NY!

Please enter me for Package #1! =)

  70. Happy Happy Blogiversary!!! Here’s to many more years of book blogging fun!

I just flew over, but with crossing the International Date Line and all, I arrived before I left, so I literally travelled through time to get here! And of course I’ve come with every flavour of Pocky I could find. And a Hello Kitty toaster! Because everyone needs one of those. ;)

  71. Aw! Happy Blogoversary!!! :) Love reading your blog, although I’ve fallen off this past month or so.

I’m open to any package but would prefer Package 1 over the others.

Thanks for the giveaway dear and keep on blogging! :)

  72. Congrats and here’s to many more years of blogging! :)
I’d love that first book package – sounds delicious.
    librariansbook(at)gmail

  73. Happy blogversary, Sheila! I arrived at the party a bit earlier than I had planned since my school closed early this afternoon due to excessive heat. I came in my trusty Honda Civic with the air conditioning on full blast with 20 lbs of ice and extra slices of the carrot cake we had at the office lunch. I’d like Package #4 if I’m one of the lucky winners.

  74. Congrats on your blogoversary! Here’s to more years of blogging in the future! I’d love to win #1!

  75. I LOVE that song! Happy Blogiversary Sheila! I hope you have had an awesome day :D I came across your blogiversary from reading your daily meanderings!

I have done a post especially for you to say Happy Bloggy! Your blog was one of the blogs that made me want to write about books and what a change it has made!

All of those packages look amazing and i hope i get one! They all come with chocolate and coffee what more could a girl want!

    Check out the post: http://blogabooketc.wordpress.com/2011/06/09/blogiversary-wishes-to-sheila/

    Once again HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY :D

  76. I came on my trusty Segway over the mountains, the desert and the dunes to wish you a Happy Blogoversary!! Unfortunately the chocolate didn’t make it but the cactus candy is still pretty yummy. Actually in the good ol state of AZ we actually revel in some great Mexican food too. Shall I bring the chips and salsa or are you ready for the main course by now??

Your blog is like a ray of sunshine – wait, in Arizona we don’t appreciate that quite as much as we cherish a cool drop of rain! That’s it!! Your blog is the perfect combination. Thanks for contributing to this great big world and adding so much.

I would love to wind ANY of this delights – it would be a birthday surprise!
Enjoy the celebrating. I hope you remember it in the morning :)

    I

  77. Well, I’m dragging in here – my broom had a blow-out over Colorado, so I hitched a ride with a puny-looking dragon to get on up here to the great cold North! :) Here’s a case of Cokes and some Chips-Ahoy cookies – that durn dragon ate the quiche I was bringing to you!

Happy Anniversary, my dear friend! Here’s to many more years of great books and great fun! You put the zing into book blogging!!!

    Now, who had the champagne?

  78. Oh, and please enter me for your package #1 drawing! I nearly forgot!!!

  79. Congrats on your 2 year Blogoversary! I had no idea what a life changing experience blogging would be either. It has opened up a whole new world for me. I love reading your blog and your morning meanderings. I’d love a chance to win one of your packages. My preference would by # 1, but the others are great too!

justpeachy36@yahoo.com (Deb from Debbie’s Book Bag!)

  80. Happy Blogoversary! I wore my invisibility suit, so no one would see me come in (I am an introverted bibliophile, after all, and prefer to be a wallflower). I couldn’t carry in anything, or it would give away my disguise. So I’m having pizza delivered!

    I love options 1, 2 and 4!

    • Nice touch with the invisibility suit, I almost missed you there. I need to get one of those… oh the things I could do…..

Great idea with the pizza…. the crowd is getting big and they are hungry…. :D

  81. Happy blogiversary! :) I am thrilled to attend this wonderful event, especially because I love cheesy 80′s music. I arrived via “Little Red Corvette” (but only because I wanted to mention an 80′s song; otherwise, I would have flown here on my unicorn.) To add some punch to this party, I brought all the making for fine punch complete w/ magical mixing punch bowl. (BTW, I hid a flask of something special behind the couch if anyone wants to take the punch to the next level.)

I really, really, really want to win #4 because I don’t have those books AND I love Ghiradelli milk chocolate & caramel (yes, it is about the chocolate.)

Amy // amyismyfriend at aol dot com

    • Ahhh…. the little red Corvette (is the artist formerly known as Prince with you? *checking back seat as I know he is a little man and could really hide anywhere*

I like the touch with the flask too…. I am curious as to who will find it first… hmmmm… :D

  82. Ooh Ooh Ooh…Happy Bloggaversary!!! I am toasting you with a glass of bubbly champagne…I will pick door number one!!!

  83. Yay! Congratulations, and thank you for the generous giveaway. Here’s to another awesome blog year for you!

For your party, I have here some caramels and chocolates with salt on top. I will also bring some butterbeer of course! Straight from Hogsmeade. I will be arriving first class using my pet unicorn. You won’t miss her – she is pink and has a star on her forehead.

    Can’t wait!

    • Hi Jillian, caramels and chocolates with salt? Interesting! Just add the butter beer to the empty pitchers on the table… we had butterbeer earlier but it is long gone :D

      Love the unicorn!

  84. Pardon me! *brushes woolly mammoth fur off from the commute to this party* Yes, it was a good ride, thank you! :)

*Brings bags of ice from behind back* I’m a little late, but I thought you might be able to use a bit more ice for the drinks.

    Happy blogiversary, Sheila!

  85. Happy Blogoversary! I would absolutely love package #1. Thank you for the generous giveaway :)
    throuthehaze at gmail dot com

  86. Congrats, it has been great fun reading your blog! Thanks for the great giveaway!!

    ladybook21@yahoo.com

  87. I flew in on my magic carpet, which is so new that I haven’t quite learned how to control it. That’s why I landed with such a loud thump (“Ouch!”) against the wall of your blog. Sorry about the clatter, but now I’m ready to party hardy. Umm, what’s in those delicious-looking thingies over there? I want to try those first.

Oh, wait! First, I need to put out the food I brought — this huge bowl of fried okra. I’m from the South, you know, and I thought folks ought to know that okra is even better cut up and fried than it is in gumbos from Louisiana. In my opinion, of course.

And you asked which package? I kind of like Package #2, thinking that would be most appropriate for your SECOND blogiversary.

Nice party! It’s really rocking, all ready!

    • Bonnie are you ok? So sorry you hit the wall… its that darn neutral color…. its hard to see!

OOH fried okra? Let me help you with that! Thanks for coming Bonnie!

      • Oh yes, thank you, I’m fine. Virtual walls are not quite as solid as those other kinds.

I haven’t had time to read ALL these comments, but I kind of hope I’m the only one who thought to ride into town on a magic carpet. Of course, I’d be happy to give rides to those who have never flown on one.

  88. Happy Blogiversary Shelia! Love the enticing prize packages you have thought up! Thanks for providing such great book ideas the past two years! I toast you with my mug of coffee and thought I’d bring that MN original, the Nut Goodie bar to the party!

    • Hi Julie – glad you could make it – we are still going strong here… only one person has hit the wall and we had a bit of a parking opportunity when the three hot air balloon were tangled with the two parachutes …. but all things to have worked out :D

      OOH and Nut Goodies!

  89. Congrats on two years of blogging! I’m brining some caramel gelato to the party to stave off the heat. (Package 2 looks great – I’ve heard good things about Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter.)

  90. I’m late…sorry! My darn donkey, Beatrice, decided to be extremely slow. She’s just lucky we weren’t bringing a hot food item! Luckily, this cherry and pineapple dump cake is still holding its own! Anyway, wooooot….great party and happy 2 years of blogging to you! You are such a joy to read and interact with (even if I don’t make it over every day). Looking forward to many more years of mutual blogging friendship. :)

If you wouldn’t mind, my preference for the giveaway is #4, #2, #1…in that order. #4 had to be my number one choice because Little Women is present in one of the titles! Anyway, thanks for the party and the giveaway. :D

  91. Whew – lot of comments here! I’m late to the party, because I rode here with my daughter on her gurney after her colonoscopy this morning. Luckily, we had time to stop at the hospital cafeteria, so I come bearing overheated macaroni and cheese and rubbery broccoli. Yum!

So glad to have had the chance to get to know you better this past year through your blog and also through the Faith and Fiction round tables. Congratulations on two years – and here’s to many, many more! (Oh, and I would kill for packages 1 or 4. :)

    • Traveling by gurney – very practical Carrie! Glad you could come and your daughter too – hope she is doing well :)

Thanks for the hospital food (s0me of these people have been here all day so they will probably be unable to tell…LOL)

Thank you for the well wishes :D

  92. stacybuckeye

I’m a little late to the party, but that make my entrance on the shoulders of Hugh Jackman all that more grand. I’m also bringing some sangria (you don’t mind if I started early?). I’m enjoying the party and would love to win packages 2 or 3.
Congratulations on a fantastic 2 years!

  93. Happy Blogiversary!!! Batman (aka Christian Bale) flew me here and I brought chocolate covered Oreos, so life doesn’t get much better! Unless of course I win!! :)

  94. I just am dropping by to wish a most awesome blogoversary! Hope you are celebrating it in style. (no need to enter me in the giveaway)

  95. Congrats Shelia!!
I would loved to be counted in, Especially for package #1. :D

  96. I walked slowly and smelled the roses on the way (which explains why I’m so late!) and I brought freshly-baked peanut butter cookies!

Happy blogiversary! You’re such a doll for hosting this great party! I would love package #2 or #4.

  97. Happy blogaversary! I am sorry I am so late.

Hears to many many more fabulous years of bookish blogging to come!! xoxo

  101. Wow Cindy! “Look out for the dentist chair everyone!”

I am so glad you could make ti and jello shots too? LOL Is that good for you when you are all hopped up on Novocaine? ;)

    rickimc[at]aol[dot]com

  103. Happy Blogiversary…not sure if I’m too late but I thought that I’d try.

  104. I’m a bit late to the party here, had to travel all the way from out home at PEI where I’ve been visiting my fam. I borrowed my friends lion and rode it down. Brought along some fresh road kill we found on the way. Sorry bout the smell ;) Hope you are having a great blogoversary, love reading your posts!
