Morning Meanderings

Good Morning!  Coffee Cup and I are sitting here this morning on the verge of what looks to be a beautiful day.  I was just thinking about a discussion going on at a blog I was reading earlier this week about review layouts.  The discussion (and I am so sorry but I do not recall where I seen this at) revolved around if we had a set layout for our reviews.  Such as:  some of us, write our own synopsis of the books we review, or we link to other reviews of the book, or include the page number and/or genre, links to purchase, ratings…  the list goes on and on.

So…. as I look at my new (and hopefully improved) blog name, I tried to think of a more designed review style and actually came up with a few ideas that have me not only excited for this blog, but I think I can apply one of the steps to my book club group as well.

I don’t want to give it all away…. and as in all things, there may be tweaking as I go…. but the new review layout will show up on the review that I am posting later today.  And that is all I am going to say about that.  ;)

According to my local weather on Google, today is the last of the nice sunny days for a while.  Looks like rain tomorrow through Friday which hits the bummer scale for me as that means no biking or rollerblading.  It does however mean reading time and that is good as I am so loving the Michael Sullivan series and can not wait to review the first three books of his series.

I leave you with this…. I have been in such a Potter mood lately.  I recently listed to the second book on audio (which I HIGHLY recommend) and since then I have been jonesing for book three.  Must…. stay….. strong….

However – my dear friend Heidi who knows about my Potter addiction, sent me a link to the following video.  I had seen this before but it is still so fun!

Have a great day everyone!

  1. I think review layouts is one of my hardest things. I am always worried I will give to much away. So I just try to stick with my feelings about the book and let Amazon do the synopsis and review, lol. It is always exciting when you think of new things for your blog. I am constantly looking for new things and new ways to make my blog better:)
Oh and you must stop by my blog this week:) I will have coffee and fresh pastries ready:)
    Bobbie

    • That is a tough one Bobbie – I struggle too sometimes with the”giving too much away”, that’s why I invented the spoiler button so I can rave (or rant) a bit deeper to those who have already read the book. I think it is one of the best creations I have had on this blog :)

Oh and coffee and fresh pastries? I will be right over!

  2. Oh I don’t do well with suspense! But it sounds exciting!

  3. Cute. My grandson is supposed to be doing his school work, but of course overheard the video so had to check it out. It is perfect for the 12 year old set.

I’d actually prefer there not be a standard review format. Many have their own style that gives a special twist to their review. If you are just talking about starting it with the basic book info, that is another story. It would give us what we need to know as far as price, book length, etc.

  4. I’m excited to see your new review layout. I go between having a format and forgetting to use it…so mine are all over the board.

It is snowing here today! Minnesota seems like a better place for snow… :) Not that I wish that on you!

    • It will probably take a few swings and a miss to get it right Rachelle but I really want ti to theme with the blog title: Book Journey… :)

      Uggghhhh…. snow…. please don’t send it our way! :D

  5. Yes, I agree that it’s fun to change things up, but it’s also fun to just do your own unique twist each time, instead of following a format. I’m sure you’ll come up with something that has your intriguing footprint.

Oh, I’m so sorry, Sheila, you asked for no rain or snow, but here I am with my “weather” name!

    Loved the video.

  6. I love Harry Potter. Though the movie character is a mere shadow of the one in the books. :-)

  7. I like the simplified blog name and that’s the name that is connected to your posts, so it works perfectly! I’m interested in seeing your new rating system – sounds like it was an interesting conversation. :) Have a beautiful day!

  8. :D My son is sitting here beside me with a huge smile on his face. He and his friend watched this a few months ago and I had the whole thing about memorized thanks to them repeatedly watching it. He got a kick out of seeing you had it on here. He loves this little video. Thanks, not only did you put a smile on my face on his too.

Hope you had a great day!

  9. I really need to find some time to sit down and tweak my blog. Sadly, that will not be for at least another month as I prep for a high school graduation. Then I need another bloggiesta!

    • Hi Lisa – the good news is that I think the next Bloggiesta will be in June. Not sure if a date has been set yet – but the timing sounds good for you! :D
